FEATS OF THE WEEK: A crowd of 8,846 at the Charleston Civic Center watched No. 1 Huntington, W.Va. defeat state-No. 2-ranked Capital, 77-64. But the Highlanders chances for staying No. 1 were dealt a major blow. By state rule, standout guard O.J. Mayo (Southern Cal) must sit out Huntington's next two games because he was ejected after receiving two technical fouls. The Highlanders next face No. 6 Lakewood, Calif., Artesia at Duke University and then travel to regionally ranked Georgetown, Ky., Scott County . . . No. 2 Mouth of Wilson, Va., Oak Hill improved its record to 3-1 against Top 25 teams by blasting No. 20 Jackson, Tenn., Liberty Tech, 83-62. Senior guard Nolan Smith (Duke) led the Warriors with a game-high 34 points . . . Richmond, Va., Benedictine entered the regional rankings after a monster week from forward Ed Davis. The 6-foot-8 junior recorded a quadruple double (20 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 blocks) in the Cadets' 59-36 defeat of Richmond Collegiate. Then, in an 82-62 rout of Norfolk Collegiate, Davis had 29 points, 10 rebounds, and six blocks . . . In an ESPNU-televised event pitting Washington's best against Baltimore's best at American University, No. 18 Hyattsville, Md., DeMatha got 31 points from Austin Freeman (Georgetown) to beat regionally ranked Baltimore, Towson Catholic, 78-71.
